William Adams quit his Pittsburgh Public Schools librarian job in Homewood and Garfield in the late 1970s, when he got stuck on suction cups. Given the energy crisis at the time, he devised a bubble-wrap “window blanket” secured by suction cups to warm the home. Then, he peddled suction cups to retailers with window signs so they no longer had to scrape tape residue off their windows....
